Sending an E-card,
may be a FREE card,
but a card
that’s hard to keep.
You see a SEE-card,
is the key card,
a “just for me” card
to make them weep.

SEE, I love you, SEE, I miss you,
SEE, I adore you in every way,
SEE, I appreciate you, SEE, I’m blessed,
to know you every day.

For the SEE-card, not the E-card,
is the card that is most real;
The SEE-card, not the E-card,
is the one
that makes them FEEL.

As Christmas approaches there will be a huge amount of Christmas cards mailed out. The majority will be sincere and then there will be the generic ones from businesses you will have dealt with, which we know are just churned out for the sake of it, have no real meaning, and deserve to be thrown into the garbage bin rather than displayed with the others.

My late father loved sending cards to people for all kinds of occasions but especially thank you cards. As a child, as soon as we received a gift he made us write a written thank you immediately. That always resonated with me and as an adult, I continued this.

In the early 90’s I was introduced to a company called SendOutCards. It was and is an amazing company. The concept was simple; go to their site and from the comfort of your own home, either send one of their cards with your text and a photo if you wish, and they would print it mail it and post it to the recipient. Saved going to the stores, buying one, writing it out, addressing it, putting a stamp on it, and then going back out to mail it. If you wanted, you could send a gift with the card too, and I loved it.
(There are now other companies doing the same thing like Moonpig and Mail Power).

I became a card-sending machine. When I met someone or received good service I fired off a card and from the answers to subtle questions I would have asked them during our conversation, I would personalize the card with photos. I received a great response and most would keep the card.

I coined the phrase W.A.K.I card. It stood for Will Always Keep It. My goal was to send a card they would always keep.
I sent one to my dentist. The next time I came into the surgery it was displayed on the reception desk for all to see and it’s still there, framed, two years later!

You see people LOVE to be APPRECIATED. it’s just human nature and feeds the soul. While it is nice to receive a digital e-card, it is just not the same as getting an unexpected card in the mail amongst the bills and flyers.
So instead of an e-card send a c-card…c…I thought about you, c… I took the time and money to let you know your special, c…I truly love you, appreciate you, and acknowledge you.

Send out a W.A.K.I card, one so touching that it will never be thrown away. Don’t just wait to be dictated to by the greeting card companies, who insist you send a card on Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Valentines Day, etc. Select your own occasions. Create a goal to send a card as often as you can and it will make you both feel good…I promise
